How to Scan a QR Code from a Screenshot on iPhone
If someone texted or emailed you a QR code on your iPhone, you don't need a second phone to scan it. In QR Code Reader & Generator, tap the floating scan button on the Home tab and choose Scan from Photos or Scan from Files to decode any saved image immediately.
Is my uploaded image or screenshot sent to a server?
No. Your image is decoded locally inside your browser using the Web BarcodeDetector API. Your files never leave your computer or phone.
What if my browser says BarcodeDetector is not enabled or fails on a blurry photo?
Desktop browsers have limited barcode support compared to native iOS. On iPhone or iPad, download our free QR Code Reader & Generator app—it combines Apple CoreImage hardware acceleration with our embedded ZXing engine to decode QR codes and 14+ barcode formats from Photos, screenshots, and the Files app.
